What is the Seminar about?
This 2-day seminar will showcase undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral research in the social sciences in India. It will engage with wide-ranging contemporary topics in the social sciences and provide a forum for students from various institutions to engage in exchange of academic knowledge. Last year, research topics ranged from the efficacy of mid-day meals and pedagogical discourse , among others.

Objectives of the Seminar
Encouraging high-quality research as an important part of the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral curricula in India.
Providing an opportunity for students from various disciplines within the social sciences to present their research.
Engaging with topics of contemporary relevance and rigorous methods employed in social sciences research.
Establishing an academic forum for students of the social sciences to receive a critical review of their work.
Keynote Address
Dr. Aneetha Kasuganti
Independent Consultant and Researcher
Dr. Aneetha Kasuganti has a PhD from IIT Bombay, and a master’s degree in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations from TISS. She has more than 20 years of experience in the fields of education, research, IT, and marketing. She currently works as a freelance researcher working in areas of interdisciplinary applied research. Her work includes research in the area of workplace strategy and marketing and UX strategy. A lifelong learner, she also loves music and enjoys reading. She will be speaking about her experience with applied research projects to highlight the challenges and rewards of applied research in the corporate world.
Dr. Pallavi Joshi Lahari
Post Doctoral Researcher at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi
Dr. Joshi holds a Ph.D. and M.Phil. from the Centre for Study of Regional Development, School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Her doctorate thesis was an enquiry into Occupational Health Determinants in the Bidi Sector in India. In her post doctoral research she is developing inter-disciplinary experience in the area of environmental health, more specifically looking into climate change and air pollution health effects. Her primary academic research interests are in the areas of Social, Occupational and Environmental Determinants of Population Health. She will be speaking about developing a well-rounded approach to developing experience in a research domain.
Themes
In doing away with an overarching theme, we wish to encourage submission of high-quality research in the fields of psychology, economics, sociology, anthropology, gender studies, and public policy. Papers presented at past editions of the Seminar have been multi-disciplinary in nature.
